Who We Are
National Hockey Now: Local Coverage on a National Level
National Hockey Now launched in 2016 with a clear mission: deliver credentialed, unbiased, in-market reporting that puts fans closer to their teams. The model resonated immediately, beginning with coverage of the Pittsburgh Penguins and quickly expanding into additional NHL markets.
By 2019, the network added dedicated sites in Boston and Colorado, bringing local, professional reporting to Bruins and Avalanche fans. NHN continued to broaden its reach, expanding into football and baseball with the additions of Steelers Now, Pittsburgh Baseball Now, and later Patriots Football Now.
Today, National Hockey Now is a division of Sportsnaut, one of the fastest-growing independent sports media networks in the country. Together, we deliver deeply reported, locally driven coverage with the scale and distribution of a national platform.
Our footprint includes:
- 19 active websites dedicated to individual NHL teams
- A combined audience of millions of monthly readers and 6 million+ pageviews
- Hundreds of thousands of social followers across Facebook, X, Flipboard, and YouTube
- Thousands of newsletter subscribers across local markets
- A thriving premium subscription tier, NHN+, with 3,500+ paying members
As part of Sportsnaut, NHN is expanding into new markets, strengthening its hockey and football coverage, and evaluating opportunities to grow into additional sports verticals in the cities we already serve.
In a landscape increasingly influenced by clickbait, AI-generated content, and constant newsroom turnover, NHN remains committed to real reporting from credentialed journalists who know their markets and serve their communities.
We are growing. We are investing. We are elevating local sports coverage across North America.
That’s National Hockey Now now proudly part of Sportsnaut.
