NHL Beat Writer: National Hockey Now is looking for beatwriters in the following cities: Toronto, Winnipeg, Las Vegas, Vancouver, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Columbus, Minnesota, and Seattle.
Qualifications:
- Media experience is required (newspapers, radio, professional websites, independent media, credentialed blogs).
- Must know your team. Living in that city is required.
- Active on social media (especially X) with the standard ability to Tweet all stories and upload videos to YouTube and Facebook.
- Be part of the community and help us create the community.
- Resourceful, able to create engaging content, and knows hockey.
**NFL writers for all cities except Pittsburgh: Our Steelers site is drawing millions of views per month. We’ve achieved our proof of concept, and the revenues are wonderful. We use an entrepreneurial model, so as you help us build the audience, you’ll be rewarded with fantastic compensation.

Responsibilities for NHL and NFL beat writers:
- A beat writer is responsible for all coverage, from news to opinion and analysis. Successful writers can generate original and engaging content without waiting for the team to make news. NHN thrives in the large professional space between perfunctory newspaper coverage and the blogosphere’s fan emotion. We don’t just want to know what happened, we want to know why, how, what else could happen, and what should happen as told in engaging content.
- Video content and podcasting is a huge plus.
